Positive Sobriety Institute Nationally Recognized for Innovative Response  to the Addiction Crisis

Addiction Policy Forum awards programs for saving lives

CHICAGO —  Addiction Policy Forum, a leading national nonprofit, recognized ‘Positive Sobriety Institute’ in its Illinois Innovations to Address Addiction report, spotlighting innovative programs that address addiction and provide support for families and communities.

“The Innovation Now Initiative recognizes programs transforming the response to addiction and offering solutions in a time of crisis such as the Positive Sobriety Institute in Illinois,” says Jessica Hulsey Nickel, founder of the Addiction Policy Forum.

The ‘Positive Sobriety Institute’ helps determine whether physicians, nurses, counselors, and other professionals suffer with substance use disorders. Its comprehensive process gets to the root of what’s going on in a person’s life physically, mentally, emotionally, and professionally. When the assessment is complete, the results are sent to the referral source and for those deemed unfit to practice, a detailed treatment plan is recommended.

“Our focus is on assisting people to get the help they need. The assessment can act as the first step in turning someone’s life around, and that’s especially rewarding,” says Dr. Kathy Angres, Director of Multidisciplinary Assessments of the Positive Sobriety Institute. “We are grateful to be awarded as an Illinois Innovative program in Addiction Policy Forum’s Innovation Now initiative.”
